David Ornstein insists that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta still has ‘total backing’ of the club’s board, despite his side’s poor start to the season.
Speaking on the Ornstein and Chapman podcast, the journalist acknowledged that the pressure from the outside was building on Arteta after Arsenal’s poor start to the campaign.
However, he believes that Arsenal’s board have total faith in their manager to turn things around, and Arteta won’t be sacked any time soon.
“There will of course be some pressure building on Mikel Arteta externally but internally I think he has total backing and Arsenal will want to give it time,” Ornstein said.
“They won’t want to become a club that chops and changes managers.”
Arteta may retain the faith of Arsenal’s board for now, but there will surely be a realisation from the Spaniard that results must improve sooner rather than later if he is to keep his job for the long-term.

Arsenal are currently sat in 14th place with just 10 goals in their first 10 games, which is simply not good enough for a club with the Gunners’ lofty expectations.
Arteta has faced some serious questions in recent weeks over his team selections and tactical approach.
Arsenal’s next game comes against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, and if they are beaten in the North London derby, then the pressure could ramp up even further on Arteta from a fan base which is becoming increasingly disgruntled.
