Forest scraped Championship survival on the final day of the season last month, and manager Warburton is now charged with the task of improving Forest’s fortunes in the long term.

Evangelos Marinakis has taken over the club, and will now look to back Warburton with funds in the transfer market, with a striker seemingly on Warburton’s wish list despite Britt Assombalonga’s strong final day performance against Ipswich Town.
Now, The Scottish Sun report that Forest are set to tie up a deal to sign Hibernian striker Jason Cummings, with a seven-figure deal ‘reluctantly’ accepted by the Easter Road club.

Cummings, 21, had been in the Hearts youth ranks before joining rivals Hibernian in 2013, and he smashed 23 goals in all competitions as Hibs won promotion back to the Scottish Premiership under Neil Lennon.
The Scot has now smashed 69 goals in his last three seasons, and Forest appear to have won the race for his signature, finally giving Warburton the chance to work with the striker.

As reported by the Sunday Post last summer, Warburton had hoped to sign Cummings for Rangers having proven to be something of a nemesis in games against the Gers, but no deal was done.
Now, Warburton is finally set to sign Cummings, giving him the chance to challenge with Assombalonga, Ben Brereton and Apostolos Vellios in the Forest attack next season and beyond.
