The future of James Rodriguez at Everton is in doubt following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid, according to The Athletic.
It was Ancelotti who signed James from Spanish and European giants Madrid last summer.
The Colombia international attacking midfielder worked with the Italian tactician at Madrid and Bayern Munich.
The Athletic has claimed that the future of the 29-year-old is now in doubt following the exit of Ancelotti.

You would think that James would not have joined Everton had Ancelotti not been at Goodison Park.
The 29-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, has a very good relationship with the Italian boss.
Without Ancelotti at Everton now, James might feel that the Merseyside outfit may not be able to challenge for the Premier League top four.
However, players are used to seeing managers sacked.
James is not going back to Madrid with Ancelotti, and the former FC Porto and AS Monaco star may not be able to attract a top club in Europe.
Moreover, Everton may not want to sell James after just one season.
The Colombian made 21 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Toffees this past season.
James scored six goals and gave four assists in those matches.
