Peter Kenyon may not be Newcastle United-bound after all.

According to The Sun, Peter Kenyon’s bid to take over Newcastle United is dead in the water over a Champions League clause.
The Magpies drew 1-1 at Watford on Saturday afternoon, and it’s clear that Rafael Benitez needs signings in order to take the club forward.
However, with Mike Ashley looking to sell the club, it seems unlikely that he will back Benitez with the money needed to bring in major signings.
Ashley has again hinted that he could sell Newcastle in the near future, with ex-Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive Kenyon the leading name.
However, The Sun now report that Kenyon’s bid – alongside a consortium – is dead in the water over the price of the club.
Kenyon had offered £200million, whereas Ashley wanted £300million. Kenyon had seemingly raised the bid to £300milion, but Ashley receiving the full amount was dependent on Newcastle qualifying for the Champions League in the next 10 years.

Ashley seemingly isn’t keen on those terms, and with Kenyon and co possibly unwilling to offer up the £300million up front, no deal appears to be going through.
That would be a huge blow to Benitez and to Newcastle fans, as it’s clearly time for Ashley to move on, and it remains to be seen whether another party enter the bidding.
