Aston Villa are hoping to keep Jack Grealish at Villa Park.

According to The Mirror, Aston Villa will kickstart contract talks with playmaker Jack Grealish at the start of next month – and he is unlikely to play tonight.
Villa endured a difficult summer after missing out on promotion to the Premier League, as financial problems hit the club hard, leading to many believing star man Grealish would be leaving the club.
However, Villa were saved with fresh investment from Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, meaning they weren’t forced to sell any key players before the transfer deadline earlier this month.
Tottenham therefore missed out on Grealish, and now The Mirror report that Villa will open talks about a new deal for the playmaker once the European transfer deadline passes on Friday.
Grealish, 22, has come up through the ranks with his boyhood club, and signing a new deal will help Villa dictate any transfer fee with real authority – unless he pushes for a release clause to be included in the deal.
The talented playmaker hit three goals and six assists last season as Villa reached the final of the Championship play-offs, and has grabbed one assist in his first five outings this term.

That’s all positive news for Grealish, but there is some less-than-ideal news for Steve Bruce, as it’s added that Grealish is unlikely to play in the Carabao Cup tie against Burton Albion tonight having been taken off against Reading with a dead leg on Saturday.
Ultimately though, the contract news is the big boost for Villa, and Bruce will hope to get through tonight’s tie without Grealish available.
