According to The Telegraph, Jose Mourinho remarkably stayed behind at Tottenham Hotspur more than four hours after his sacking.
Spurs parted ways with Mourinho on Monday morning, surprisingly letting him go just days before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
Ryan Mason is in as interim boss until the summer, and a host of names are already being linked with the job.
Yet it’s now emerging that Mourinho collected his belongings and then stayed after training for over four hours – because he wanted to spill some home truths.
It’s claimed that Mourinho took hours to tell his players what he thought of them in a quite remarkable yet vintage Mourinho development.
Mourinho has had issues with the likes of Danny Rose and Dele Alli, whilst Toby Alderweireld, Steven Bergwin, Gareth Bale, Harry Winks and Matt Doherty have all found themselves exiled at times this season, meaning they could have been subjects in Mourinho’s frustration.
The report notes that the relationship between Mourinho and some of his players ‘hit rock bottom’ after losing 3-0 to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League in March.
It’s quite stunning that Mourinho not only decided to have it out with the Spurs squad after his own sacking, but also that it took four hours!
After that send-off, few could blame Tottenham players for being pretty happy and relieved to have Mourinho out of the door and a new era on the way.
