Some of Newcastle United’s targets have reportedly just become available.

It has been a frustrating start to the window for the Magpies, but the Toon Army will argue that the lack of movement has hardly been unexpected.
Rafa Benitez is still awaiting the chance to get his first signing through the St James’ Park door. And some of the supporters would be forgiven for fearing that the window could end without any new arrivals turning up.
And while it seems that some work needs to be done before a signing is made, the Chronicle has suggested that a couple of Benitez’s targets may have come onto the market and may now have become available in the last two days.

Of course, it is now up to the Newcastle hierarchy to go out and capitalise on the situation and get those signings in. And given how shrewd the Magpies seemingly try to be in the market, it is no guarantee that they will take advantage if they feel the asking prices do not add up.
Newcastle, of course, will be desperate to pick up a win when they face relegation rivals Cardiff City this weekend. But perhaps it would not be a huge shock if some of the supporters feel that a bad result could have one upside as there could perhaps be no greater wake-up call regarding the need to get players in.
