The Celtic hitman is reportedly a ‘major doubt’ for the Hoops’ Europa League opener next week.

It hasn’t been a good week for Celtic fans.

Not only have the Parkhead faithful seen one of their most influential and important players in Dedryck Boyata try to engineer a move away from Celtic.

But for the first time under Brendan Rodgers they have experienced the disappointment of exiting the Champions League before the group stages.

AEK Athens beat Rodgers’s side 2-1 on Tuesday to seal a 3-2 aggregate win and dump out the Bhoys in the third round of qualifiers, with Boyata reportedly refusing to travel to Greece for the second leg.

Celtic now turn their attention toward the Europa League and some more bad news could be on the way in that regard.

According to The Daily Record, Odsonne Edouard is a “major doubt” to be fit for their first leg clash with Suduva next week due to a hamstring injury.

The French striker, an £8 million record signing by Rodgers, missed the defeat by AEK and it piles the pressure on Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele.

Ordinarily the duo are well used to scoring big goals for Celtic, but both are only back from injury so time will tell whether they are at their red-hot best, if Edouard is unavailable.
