According to La Voix Du Nord, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos is promoting Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan to Jose Mourinho.

It’s claimed that Maignan could leave Lille this summer. He has been with the club for five years, but could now move on.

The report states that Maignan could join Tottenham, where he would be following in the footsteps of Hugo Lloris by making the move from France to Spurs.

It’s even noted that Spurs goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos – formerly of Lille – is promoting Maignan to boss Jose Mourinho, seemingly wanting to be reunited with Maignan.

Lille seemingly think Leo Jardim can step up and be first choice next season, suggesting an indication that they think Maignan will be on the move.

Maignan, 24, has racked up more than 130 appearances for Lille since his 2015 move from Paris Saint-Germain, and had a close relationship with Santos at Lille.

When Santos left Lille for Spurs back in November, Maignan took to Twitter to thank him for his help in an emotional goodbye.

Reuniting with Santos should be appealing to Maignan, and a move would make sense in terms of him becoming the heir to 33-year-old Lloris at Tottenham.

Yet with budget issues at Tottenham due to the global pandemic, it’s hard to imagine big-money signings this summer – and funding a move for Maignan could be a problem, even with Santos seemingly pushing for his arrival.
