Christian Marques has been called up to first-team training by Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo with the Birmingham Mail suggesting that the 17-year-old may be closing in on a first-team debut in Old Gold.
Anyone outside of Wolverhampton would be forgiven for greeting these developments with a rather bemused expression. But those in the know will tell you that this Switzerland youth international is one of the most talented youngsters in a crop of potential future stars at Molineux.
At the age of 17, Marques is already a regular for Wolves’ U23 side – and their influential captain to boot. Before too long, he could be strutting his stuff in the Premier League too.
The Birmingham Mail points out that the former GC Zurich starlet is one of two youngsters who has been called up to first-team training by Nuno. Unlike Owen Otasowie, who has played 17 minutes of Europa League football this season, Marques is yet to make his first-team bow in that famous golden shirt.
But things could soon change.

With Wolves very well placed to secure a place in the Europa League at least, Nuno may be temped to experiment with his team in the weeks ahead.
The ex-Valencia and Porto boss has shown plenty of faith in Wolves’ next generation, making Morgan Gibbs-White (below) and Ruben Vinagre key members of the senior squad while handing out chances to Chem Campbell, Luke Cundle, Flavio Cristovao, Oscar Buur, Terry Taylor and Benny Ashley-Seal this season.
Marques may be the next in line.
