According to The Times, Nuno Espirito Santo made some Tottenham players wary of him at Hotspur Way by often doing one thing.
What’s the story?
Well, Tottenham players grew increasingly concerned at Nuno’s decision to communicate with his inner coaching staff solely in Portuguese.
The Times believe Tottenham players asked teammates who understood what was being said to translate Nuno’s words.
Of course, that is understandable, as the 47-year-old could’ve been saying anything about them, for all they knew.
The Times add that Nuno was also very distant, and measured his one-on-one meetings with players by minutes, which did not suit everyone.
Nuno also didn’t obsess much over video analysis, and kept team meetings restricted to match days, which in our view, is quite strange.
Clearly, the Portuguese coach was quite a frosty figure at Hotspur Way, and it’s no surprise to us that he has now been replaced by Antonio Conte.
What was Nuno thinking at Tottenham?

In fairness to Nuno, we sympathise with him in regards to those who complained about his style of football.
Wolves only scored 36 goals in 38 Premier League games last season, so Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici knew what they were hiring.
However, we can’t believe some of his other approaches to management in N17, such as the aforementioned details by The Times.
In our view, this job was too big for him.

Wolves parted ways with Nuno in order to seek a more expansive style under Bruno Lage, which they have now found.
If Nuno wasn’t good enough for Wolves, then he was never going to succeed at Tottenham, where many pine for a return to the Champions League.
Hopefully, Levy and Paratici have learned something from their woeful approach to finding a replacement for José Mourinho.
