Manchester City are since said to have turned to Nottingham Forest’s rivals Derby County for goalkeeping cover.

Manchester City made an attempt to borrow Nottingham Forest’s Luke Steele before they turned to Derby County’s Scott Carson, according to the Sun.
City are expected to conclude a season-long loan deal for Carson, who is in the final year of his contract at Derby and would serve as a back-up to both Ederson and Claudio Bravo.
But the Sun claims that former England international was only targeted after Steele snubbed a move to the Premier League champions.
Steele has since left Nottingham Forest to join Millwall, where he will compete with Bartosz Bialkowski for regular Championship football.
Manchester City needed a home-grown option to fill their quota, having previously employed Stuart Taylor and Richard Wright to perform the same role.

And Carson looks set to be that man after falling out of favour at Derby.
Incidentally, Steele, who played for Manchester United at the start of his career, had his Nottingham Forest place taken by Arijanet Muric, who is on loan from Manchester City.
Which of the Nottingham Forest or Derby ‘keepers would have been better for Manchester City?
