Ben Brereton is set to leave Nottingham Forest for Blackburn Rovers in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that Brereton has agreed personal terms with Blackburn and will undergo a medical at Rovers early next week.

The 19-year-old striker will initially join Blackburn on a loan deal, and Tony Mowbray’s side will have option to make it permanent in the January transfer window for £6 million, according to the report.

Good move?

Brereton is a very talented and promising young striker, but if the 19-year-old is not wanted at Forest, then he should not hesitate to move to Blackburn.

The English teenager will get far more chances at Rovers than he would at Forest, at least this season, and it would help him progress and develop as a footballer if he works in a very competitive environment.

While Forest are not exactly in need of Brereton this season, selling the 19-year-old now could come back to haunt them in the coming years.

The young striker, who joined Forest from Stoke City in 2015, made 25 starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Championship for the Reds last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
