Nottingham Forest are hoping to bring Kieron Freeman back to the City Ground after his contract expired at Sheffield United, according to the Mail, with the free agent a potential Matty Cash replacement.
Thanks to the electrifying performances of George Baldock, Football League veteran turned top-flight star, a 28-year-old Wales international barely got a luck in at Bramall Lane last season.
In total, Freeman played just six minutes of Premier League football as Chris Wilder’s surprise packages marked their return to the big time with a top ten finish.
So it was no surprise when a right-back who moved to the Steel City from Portsmouth five years ago was allowed to leave with his contract expiring at the end of the campaign.
A season spent almost entirely on the sidelines has not stopped a trio of Championship clubs from expressing an interest, however.
The Mail reports that Huddersfield are keen to add Freeman to their ranks, as are a Swansea side who were beaten by a thrilling Brentford side in last week’s play-off semi-final second leg.

But Freeman has unfinished business at Nottingham Forest.
The Arnold-born full-back rose through the ranks at the City Ground, but made just two appearances in Garibaldi red before competing a shock switch to East Midland rivals Derby County eight years ago.
“All my family are Forest fans. It is still surreal for me. To represent any club is a big honour but to play for Forest is great,” a 19-year-old Freeman told the BBC in 2012.
“I have been at Forest since I was eight. To go out and play for your boyhood team is the greatest feeling.”
These emerging links will only add to the speculation suggesting that Matty Cash, one of Forest’s star performers last season, is on his way out of the City Ground.
The Telegraph report that Sheffield United have had a £10 million bid rejected, while Southampton and West Ham are also interested.
