Newcastle United loanee Jack Colback is reportedly on Nottingham Forest’s radar for next summer.

The 29-year-old is currently enjoying his second loan spell at the City Ground and has established himself as a key man for Aitor Karanka’s side, starting 14 of their opening 17 games in the Championship.
He has been excellent alongside Adlene Guedioura at the heart of Forest’s midfield – and his form seems to have prompted Karanka to make a decision on his future already.
According to the Chronicle, Forest are hoping to sign Colback permanently regardless of which division they find themselves in ahead of next season. And they are unlikely to find Magpies boss Rafa Benitez opposing a deal as the midfielder’s current contract runs out in the summer.

The fact that Karanka will apparently still want to sign Colback even if Nottingham Forest are promoted certainly says a lot about how highly the Spaniard rates the tenacious midfielder and what he brings to the team.
Forest have conceded one goal in their last four league games – even that was a goal that should definitely not have stood – and the support that Colback provides to the defence is one of the key reasons why very little is getting past Karanka’s men at the moment.
