Report: Nottingham Forest want Burton Albion’s Jackson Irvine

Nottingham Forest are interested in snapping up Australian international Jackson Irvine.

According to a report in the Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Jackson Irvine from Burton Albion.

Irvine was one of Burton’s star performers last term, as Nigel Clough’s side avoided relegation from the Championship.

The Australian is now said to be on Forest’s radar, as Mark Warburton looks to strengthen his squad this summer.

Forest face big competition for Irvine, who has also been linked with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa by the Nottingham Post.

However, the Reds should have plenty of funds to spend following the recent departure of Britt Assombalonga.

Assombalonga left Forest to join Middlesbrough earlier this week, in a mega-money deal.

If Irvine was to move to Forest he would add energy and a goalscoring threat to their midfield.

Irvine scored 10 goals for Burton in 42 Championship appearances last term.

Forest have already made signings this summer, with the likes of Jason Cummings and Barrie McKay arriving at the City Ground.
