Nottingham Forest are interested in signing the Aston Villa man, according to a report.

Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner, according to The Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Aston Villa this summer.

HITC Sport reported on Friday that several Championship clubs are interested in him and, according to The Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest are one of those sides.

The report goes on to claim that Gardner – who managed only 16 Championship starts under Steve Bruce last season – is keen to leave the Villans in search of regular football.

Gardner has an affinity with Forest after enjoying two loan spells at the City Ground previously.

He spent the second half of both the 2014-15 season and 2015-16 campaign with the Reds, scoring six goals in a total of 38 Championship appearances.

He does not appear to have much of a future at Villa Park and, given his history with Nottingham Forest, perhaps he might jump at the chance to join up with Mark Warburton, who was not the manager during his previous stints.
