Nottingham Forest are on the verge of agreeing a deal for Panathinaikos defender Mattias Johansson with Gazzetta claiming that it would be a major shock at this stage if the deal does not go through.
Reports linking a three-time Sweden international with a move to the City Ground only emerged on Tuesday. But, 24 hours later, it seems that the deal is all-but done.
Johansson is due to become a free agent at the end of this month and, by the time July rolls around, he could be pulling on the Garibaldi red of the two-time European champions.
According to reports in Greece, the 28-year-old is ‘very close’ to agreeing a deal to join promotion-chasing Forest. They even state that it would be more of a surprise if Johansson didn’t join Sabri Lamouchi’s side at this stage.
A diminutive right-back who once represented AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie, Johansson would provide some cover and depth at the back, while offering competition for the re-purposed Matty Cash.

It remains to be seen what this means for the future of Carl Jenkinson, with the ex-Arsenal ace limited to just five Championship appearances all season long.
Nottingham Forest’s record in the transfer market has left a lot to be desired in recent years but they appear to be on a roll at the moment, with the likes of Brice Samba, Thiago Silva and Samba Sow proving to be inspired additions.
On a free, Johansson looks like another intelligent, low-cost arrival.
