After another poor start to a Championship season, Nottingham Forest have parted ways with Chris Hughton.
Forest have been here before. This time last year they were relieving Sabri Lamouchi of his duties after losing his first four games of the season.
Hughton got to seven games before he was let go, but the Irishman has gone and Forest need a replacement.
There are plenty of talented managers out there at the moment, but according to The Telegraph, the gaffer that Forest are looking at is Steve Cooper.
Indeed, they report that Forest are ready to approach the former Swansea City boss about a move to the City Ground.
Cooper is proven at this level. He took the Swans to a Playoff final last season and he has 100 career wins to his name.
The ex-England U17s boss may only be 41, but he has plenty of experience behind him, and he’d certainly help Forest climb the table in the Championship.
Of course, whether or not Cooper wants the job is another matter entirely. The 41-year-old was linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with Crystal Palace reportedly showing an interest, while he could also have had a top-end Championship job, with Fulham supposedly being keen on him before appointing Marco Silva.
Forest sit bottom of the Championship, so they’re not the most alluring of destinations at the moment, but they’re reportedly going to speak to Cooper about a move to the East Midlands.
