Frederik Ronnow is arguably the best goalkeeper plying his trade in Scandanavia and has caught the eye of Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest’s reported pursuit of a new number one appears a little harsh on young shot-stopper Jordan Smith.
The rookie goalkeeper only came into the Forest side late last season thanks to Stephen Henderson’s injuries and Vladimir Stojkovic’s hologram hands but he has been hugely impressive since.
Superb performances against Millwall and Middlesbrough ensured Mark Warburton’s side got two vital wins on the board and, as things stand, they are sitting pretty in the top six after four games played.

Yet, The Sun (August 20, page 60) reports that this has not stopped Forest from scouring the continent for a ‘keeper capable of providing competition between the sticks. And it appears they’ve settled on Danish international Frederik Ronnow.
Denmark have history when it comes to producing fine shot-stoppers and, while Ronnow has a way to go before he can match Schmeichel senior or junior, his stock is rising in his homeland.
The 25-year-old has impressed for Brondby after moving in 2015 and has picked up five caps for his country since last year, putting up a stern fight for the number one jersey with Leicester City’s 2016 Premier League champion Kasper Schmeichel.
Renowned for his superb reflexes and thriving in one-on-one situations, Ronnow is every inch a modern day goalkeeper with excellent technical and passing ability. This should fit in well under Warburton, a manager known for his purist philosophy.

The question, however, is whether he could deal with the physicality of the Championship. Either way, with the Nottingham Post reporting that he could cost just £2.8 million, he is worth a punt.
