Has Sabri Lamouchi ended any hopes Callum O’Dowda might have had of signing for Championship powerhouses Nottingham Forest.

Callum O’Dowda has been left in limbo.

According to the Bristol Post, the highly-rated winger was a target for Nottingham Forest earlier in the summer, before the sacking of Martin O’Neill. Now, he’s stuck at Bristol City with just a year left on his contract.

Not that Ashton Gate is a bad place to be right now. In Lee Johnson, The Robins have one of the most positive and affable managers in the Championship with O’Dowda just one of many young talents who have made great strides under his leadership.

So much so that the Republic of Ireland international has caught the eye of plenty of rival clubs – though with just weeks remaining in the transfer window, it seems unlikely that O’Dowda will start the 2019/20 with a new team.

Nottingham Forest had shown an interest in a winger blessed with real pace earlier in the window and with good reason. Forest certainly lacked a bit of creativity and speed in wide areas last season, two attributes the former Oxford United ace doesn’t lack.

But a change in manager means a change in targets and Sabri Lamouchi’s arrival at the City Ground appears to have put pay to any hopes O’Dowda might have had about swapping Bristol City for the two-time European champions.

Fulham were also in talks recently, with Sky claiming that the £8 million-rated forward was on his way to Craven Cottage. This was before Scott Parker’s side snapped up Anthony Knockaert from Brighton and Hove Albion instead.

Another door slams shut for O’Dowda.
