The West Ham United right-back is reportedly set to become summer signing number five at Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest are set to sign Sam Byram on loan from West Ham United, according to the Sun.
Ryan Fredericks’ arrival has seen Byram pushed further down the West Ham pecking order, and the newspaper reports that Aitor Karanka, the Forest manager, has ‘jumped at the chance’ to land the 24-year-old on a season-long deal.
Byram, who came through the Leeds United academy system, cost the Hammers a reported fee of £4.3 million two-and-a-half-years ago (Transfermarkt).
However, the Essex-born player, who can operate further up the right flank if required, has only made 36 appearances throughout that time – 27 of which have arrived in the Premier League.
He is likely to take the place of Eric Lichaj at Nottingham Forest, who sanctioned the American’s sale to Hull City last week.
Forest are enjoying a productive summer transfer period, bringing in Michael Dawson (Hull), Gil Dias (AS Monaco), João Carvalho and Diogo Gonçalves (both Benfica) so far.
