Rangers loanee Emerson Hyndman is wanted by Celtic and Nottingham Forest.
Rangers’ Emerson Hyndman in action with Celtic’s Scott Brown
According to The Scottish Sun, new Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton is keen to land Bournemouth midfielder Emerson Hyndman this summer.
Hyndman, 20, left Fulham to join Bournemouth last summer upon the expiration of his contract at Craven Cottage – but his first six months with the club were frustrating, making just three appearances in all competitions.
The United States youth international was subsequently sent out on loan to Rangers in order to play regular first-team football – and so far, the move has paid dividends.
Hyndman has been a mainstay of the Rangers midfield with four goals in nine league appearances, but his performances now appear to be attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
On Sunday, the Daily Record reported that Celtic are looking to hijack any summer move from Rangers to keep Hyndman, as Bhoys manager Brendan Rodgers wants to lure the American across Glasgow.
Whilst Rangers may well want to keep Hyndman either on loan again or permanently, their odds of retaining him may be taking a hit, not only with interest from Celtic, but now also from Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton
The Scottish Sun report that new Forest boss Mark Warburton – who brought Hyndman to Rangers in January before his acrimonious departure from Ibrox in February – is keen to work with Hyndman again, and is plotting a summer move to land him.
Rangers won’t want their transfer plans to be thwarted by rivals Celtic or former boss Warburton, but a major battle for Hyndman’s signature appears to be on the cards this summer having impressed so much with Rangers.
Warburton will be hoping to frustrate both Celtic and his former employers by landing Hyndman, but the Bhoys may well feel that they’re the favourites given their title-winning season and another Champions League campaign on the horizon.
