According to a report from The Sun, Nottingham Forest are facing a fight to hold onto one of their brightest talents with both Borussia Dortmund and Monaco interested in signing Keith Asare.

Asare arrived at the City Ground from Southend United two years ago, and has been for the Championship club’s under-18s. However, despite his potential, The Sun reports that he is yet to sign a professional deal with the club, and two of Europe’s current heavyweights are ready to make him an offer.

According to The Sun, Dortmund are keen to bring him to the Westfalenstadion in a deal that will evoke memories of when they landed Jadon Sancho from Manchester City, while Ligue 1 high-flyers Monaco are also interested and monitoring his progress.

Given the calibre of the clubs chasing Asare, Forest would surely be wise to try and get the teenager to agree to a professional contract to give them the best chance of keeping him at the City Ground despite the interest that is coming elsewhere in Europe.

While moves to Dortmund or to the Principality may appeal to a youngster, Forest should argue that his development would benefit most from staying where he is as they surely present the best path to the first-team of the trio.

Forest are still searching for their next manager, but they will be looking to pull off a shock when they host Arsenal in the FA Cup at the weekend before returning to Championship action next week against Aston Villa.
