According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest now want to bring Willem II striker Jizz Hornkamp to the Premier League.
What’s the story?
Well, despite signing 12 players already this summer, Steve Cooper isn’t finished yet.
The Athletic believe Nottingham Forest are keen to strengthen their frontline further following the club-record arrival of Taiwo Awoniyi for £17.5m by bringing Hornkamp to the City Ground.
It is said that the Dutchman finds himself on Nottingham Forest’s shortlist as they attempt to replace Lewis Grabban and Keinan Davis, despite a poor 2021/22 campaign in which he scored just nine goals in 31 appearances.
However, Hornkamp proved himself to be a prolific frontman in the 2020/21 season, as he scored 20 goals in all competitions, including four in 34 minutes during a 4-4 draw against Excelsior in January 2021.

The 24-year-old suffered relegation with Willem II last season, so he would presumably jump at the chance to join a club in the Premier League.
Hornkamp also has less than two years remaining on his contract, so it is a good time for the Dutch side to sell.
Nottingham Forest taking a risk with Jizz Hornkamp
In our view, this is a risky deal for Cooper.
Despite his stunning efforts in that aforementioned 2020/21 campaign, Hornkamp was quite disappointing last season in the Eredivisie, a division which simply doesn’t compare to the Premier League.
For example, Vincent Janssen finished top scorer in the Dutch top-flight back in 2016 with 27 league goals, earning an £18.6m move to Tottenham as a result.

However, the Netherlands international only ever scored six goals in 42 appearances for Spurs.
Janssen was one of the leading strikers in the Netherlands, so if Hornkamp could only score nine goals in that part of the world last season, it does not suggest he will thrive in the Premier League.
Having said that, only time will tell what happens, so make sure to keep an eye on this situation.
