Nottingham Forest have now moved ahead of Wolves and West Ham in the race to sign Aston Villa target Danilo.

What’s the story?

Well, a number of Premier League sides are interested in signing the Palmeiras No.28 this month.

Calciomercato believe Arsenal and Leeds are also keen on the Brazilian midfielder along with Nottingham Forest, Wolves, West Ham, Aston Villa, Brighton and Bournemouth.

However, it’s Nottingham Forest who find themselves winning the race.

After securing the signature of Gustavo Scarpa – ESPN Brasil’s Player of the Season at Palmeiras – Steve Cooper is interested in raiding the Brazilian giants for another one of their key men.

Calciomercato believe the 21-year-old prodigy may be allowed to leave if a bid worth €20m (£18m) is made, with Palmeiras now more open to cashing in on the defensive midfielder.

However, the Italian news outlet add that Monaco, Benfica and Marseille have already enquired about Danilo, so those Premier League sides keen to sign him have competition.

Interestingly – despite the fact they sit two points above the Premier League relegation zone – Nottingham Forest are described as the outright favourites to sign Danilo.

Nottingham Forest relationship may trump Wolves, West Ham & Aston Villa

It is certainly intriguing to hear that Nottingham Forest lead a number of top Premier League sides in the race to sign Danilo – it would be a huge coup for those at the City Ground.

We can only imagine that Nottingham Forest negotiated well with Palmeiras over a deal for Scarpa and left a strong lasting impression on the Brazilian giants, to the point where they would be happy to do further business.

In truth, that could be the case – Nottingham Forest allowed Scarpa to remain on loan at Palmeiras before his move to the City Ground, where he ended up firing them to the title with 13 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

Keep an eye on this situation, as we expect further developments soon.
