The Championship club have reportedly made contact with the Italian duo about taking over the club, should Philippe Montanier leave the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest have made contact with Italian duo Gianfranco Zola and Pierluigi Casiraghi to take charge of the Championship club, according to a report in Gazza Mercato via the Derby Telegraph.
The Italian news outlet claims that Forest have spoken to the duo about the possibility of them succeeding Philippe Montanier, should he depart from the City Ground.

Zola would be placed as the team’s manager whilst Casiraghi will become his assistant, with the two having previously worked together at Al-Arabi and for the Italy under-21’s, and with the pair keen to work together again.
Gazza Mercato also state that Zola and Casiraghi have previously turned down opportunities in China, Dubai and Saudi Arabia, with England their first-choice, should an offer present itself.

Zola has previously managed two clubs in England, in West Ham United between 2008-2010 and Watford from 2012-2013, reaching the Championship play-off final with the latter, only to lose 1-0 to Crystal Palace before resigning five months later.
Forest are currently fifth from bottom in the Championship, after only achieving 15 points from their first 14 league matches this season.
It has left Montanier under pressure in his job, despite only taking over in the summer. If the reports are to be believed, Forest may already be considering alternatives.
