Report: Nottingham Forest land Jose Anigo to oversee four transfers

Nottingham Forest have reportedly got Jose Anigo to join them as a transfer advisor for a month as they look to make four signings.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (13/1; page 59), Jose Anigo has joined Nottingham Forest for a month as the Championship side look to make four signings during the January transfer window.

Forest are currently without a permanent manager following Aitor Karanka’s departure earlier this week. But that is clearly not going to derail their transfer plans.

The Sun on Sunday (13/1; page 59) reports that Anigo has agreed to be a transfer advisor at the City Ground and is already working on potential targets. The report adds that his arrival had nothing to do with Karanka’s exit, with his focus solely on transfers.

The Sun on Sunday suggests that Anigo will spend a month with Forest, looking to find a goalkeeper, centre-back, midfielder and quick winger as they look to get themselves into the top six.

Following their defeat to Reading on Saturday, Forest sit ninth in the table. But they find themselves just four points off the play-off places with 19 games to go, so there is more than enough time to surge up the division.

Anigo is best known for his spells as a player and manager at Marseille, and he oversaw some exciting signings during his time at Stade Velodrome, including deals for Mathieu Valbuena and Steve Mandanda.

Forest have shown some serious ambition in the market in recent times. So perhaps, despite the uncertainty surrounding the manager’s position, this could prove to be an exciting window with Anigo looking to make a major impact in a very short space of time.
