Nottingham Forest could be about to bolster their goalkeeping options with a move for Costel Pantilimon.
Pantilimon is currently on loan at La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna from Watford, but it has been a frustrating season for the Romanian, who has previously played in England with Manchester City and Sunderland before his move to Vicarage Road.
The 30-year-old has not played for Deportivo since November, and it appears that that appearance could potentially prove to be his final game for the club as the Mail suggests that he could be heading to the Championship for the rest of the season.
The Mail’s live transfer feed (30th January 2018; 15:07) reports that Forest are in talks about a move for the stopper as Aitor Karanka looks to bolster his options between the sticks – though the report does not suggest whether the deal would be permanent or on loan.
Jordan Smith has been an ever-present this term for Forest, but it seems highly unlikely that that would have been the case at all had former loanee Adam Federici not sustained a serious injury before the start of the campaign that saw his loan deal terminated.
Forest will be hoping that they can close the five-point gap to the top-half of the Championship table when they face Preston North End at the City Ground on Tuesday night.
