According to the Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are now in talks with Brighton over a deal for Neal Maupay.
What’s the story?
Well, it seems as if there is a fresh transfer story involving Nottingham Forest on a daily basis now.
Today, Maupay is in the spotlight, after Emmanuel Dennis stole the show yesterday when a fee of £20m was agreed with Watford for the Nigeria international.
The Telegraph believe the Brighton No.9 will not be involved later today as the Seagulls take on Newcastle at the Amex Stadium, as discussions over a move to the City Ground progress.
Brighton paid £20m to sign Maupay from Brentford in 2019, but Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign the Frenchman for £5m less, with a deal worth £15m currently being negotiated.
The 25-year-old has fallen out of favour under Graham Potter, and started the 2-1 win against Manchester United on the bench last weekend.
Nottingham Forest’s interest in Maupay comes after he scored eight goals in 32 Premier League appearances last season, while also providing two assists.

In our view, this would be a sensible move by Steve Cooper.
Maupay has proven himself to be a nuisance for defenders at this level, if not always scoring a lot of goals.
The Frenchman has netted 26 goals in his 102 Premier League appearances so far, but what he will bring to the City Ground is energy, tenacity when pressing, and also a motivational tool for the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi and Dennis to keep them on their heels.
Competition for places is vital to have in any sport, or else players can become complacent and believe their spot in the team is safe no matter how they perform.
