According to The Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are hoping to conclude a deal for Huddersfield Town’s Lewis O’Brien this week.
Talk about adding insult to injury.
Not only did Forest beat Huddersfield at Wembley back in May to secure themselves a place in the Premier League, they’re now taking two of the Terriers’ best players off their hands.
Indeed, O’Brien isn’t the only Huddersfield player who looks set for a move to the City Ground. According to The Athletic, a move for Harry Toffolo is also in the pipeline.
It must be truly painful for any Huddersfield fan watching two of their best players head to the team that denied them a place in the top-flight last season.
However, Huddersfield’s loss is Forest’s gain, and they will be getting a fantastic player in O’Brien.
A tireless midfielder with bags of technical ability, O’Brien has been described as a ‘very special’ player in the past, and there’s a reason he’s been linked to the likes of West Ham and Leeds in the past.
Make no mistake about it, this is a Premier League player in waiting, and Forest’s chances of staying in the division next season will certainly be boosted by this addition.
Of course, the Tricky Trees were in desperate need of a new midfielder after James Garner’s loan spell came to an end, and it looks as though they’ve now found their man.
Garner has left behind some big shoes to fill, but O’Brien certainly has the talent to step up.
