Kevin McDonald has played eight minutes of Premier League football under Claudio Ranieri and a move to the Championship with Forest could be possible.
Nottingham Forest are interested in offering Kevin McDonald an escape route out of Fulham today, according to the Nottingham Post.
It could be another busy deadline day at the City Ground with Forest spinning a number of plates as the clock ticks down.
The Nottingham Post claims that the East Midland giants are interested in signing Monaco midfielder Pele on loan, just six months after the Guinea Bissau international moved to the Stade Louis II for a fee of £9 million.
But the report adds that McDonald has been identified as a potential alternative.
The 30-year-old is a proven, experienced Championship midfielder who was in superb form as Fulham won promotion last season.
However, he has struggled for game time in recent weeks and has played just eight minutes of football since Claudio Ranieri took over at Craven Cottage.
The report adds that a deal looks unlikely at this stage but Forest still have ‘slim hope’ that an agreement could be reached.
The Sun (16 January, page 53) claimed that Middlesbrough were also interested in McDonald but they appear to have backed out of the race after landing another veteran midfielder in John Obi Mikel.
