According to Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, Nottingham Forest have had an opening bid rejected for Blackpool winger Josh Bowler.
The winger has been linked with Forest ever since the January transfer window, and despite their ascension to the Premier League, the Tricky Trees are still very keen on the attacker.
Forest have reportedly bid £2.5m for Bowler, but the Tangerines want a higher fee for the ‘brilliant’ winger.
Forest may well go back in for Bowler, with Nixon reporting that the East Midlanders are preparing a bid of £4m plus add-ons for the Championship star.
Unfortunately for Forest, Steve Cooper’s side aren’t the only team keen on Bowler – Fulham have also been linked, and that may well be a better fit for the 23-year-old.
Indeed, Bowler is a left-footed winger who loves to cut-in from the right wing, and he seemingly wouldn’t fit into Forest’s system at all.
Steve Cooper doesn’t use wingers. He’s always favoured a 5-2-1-2 formation since joining Forest, and based on the Tricky Trees’ transfer strategy so far this summer, they’re not looking to change that approach anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Bowler would fit in brilliantly on the right wing at Fulham. Harry Wilson is out injured for the foreseeable future, and given the Whites’ lack of depth on the wing, Bowler could play regular minutes in his favoured position if he joins the London club.
However, with Forest ready to up their bid, that would suggest that Cooper has a plan to make room for Bowler in his team, and as there has been no official approach reported from Fulham as of yet, a move to the City Ground could well be on the horizon.
This one could well go down to the wire as the transfer deadline looms.
