Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa’s Conor Hourihane could have been heading in a very different direction.

Nottingham Forest were close to striking two impressive deals before their takeover collapsed in January, according to The Guardian.
The report claims they were set to appoint Paul Mitchell, who was working at the time as Tottenham Hotspur’s head of recruitment, into a similar role at the City Ground.
This deal appears entirely off the table, with Forest reportedly back in talks with Greek magnate Evangelos Marinakis [Guardian].
Forest have since appointed Frank McParland as head of recruitment, following his departure from Glasgow Rangers.
Hourihane signed for Aston Villa instead later in the transfer window, and has become a regular in their side.
He has scored six goals and provided 13 assists this season, and is a talent Forest could really do with as they battle to survive potential relegation.
