Nottingham Forest have failed with a £1.3 million bid to sign Bruno Paz from Sporting Lisbon, according to A Bola.
While Wolverhampton Wanderers’ pull on the Portuguese market helped transform them from Championship also-rans into bonafide Europa League contenders, it’s fair to say Forest’s Iberian connection has not been quite as prosperous.
But, despite being underwhelmed by the likes of Alfa Semedo and Diogo Goncalves, that has not stopped the East Midland giants from returning to a familiar hunting ground.
Promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest want another Lisbon-based starlet in the shape of 22-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder Paz.
According to A Bola, Sabri Lamouchi’s side have made a £1.3 million offer but Sporting want closer to £2.5 million for a man who has not made a single Primeira Liga appearance in 2019/20.

The report adds that a pair of unnamed German clubs are now preparing to make offers of their own, while Paz has also turned down the chance to make a move to native Brazil.
Whether Nottingham Forest return to the table, however, remains to be seen.
Lamouchi is not short of midfield options but, while John Bostock has struggled to stake his claim for a regular starting berth, 34-year-old hero Ben Watson is not getting any younger either.
