Injury to West Ham United-owned Sam Byram has reportedly made Nottingham Forest look at FC Porto defender Saidy Janko.

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing former Manchester United prospect Saidy Janko following the injury to Sam Byram, according to The Nottingham Post.

It has been reported that it is unclear for how long Byram – signed on a season-long loan deal by Forest from West Ham United in the summer transfer window – will be on the sidelines due to the knee injury he suffered on Wednesday.

Forest are reportedly looking for cover and have identified the 22-year-old FC Porto right-back as a replacement.

Good signing for Nottingham Forest?

Janko failed to make a huge impact at United and the Swiss defender also struggled to do much of note at Celtic, but the 22-year-old – who can also operate as a right-winger – is a very good and promising young player.

The former Switzerland Under-21 international right-back moved to FC Porto only in the summer transfer window, but The Nottingham Post has claimed that the youngster may be available on loan.

It would not be a bad idea for Forest to sign the former Celtic right-back on loan until January.
