Newcastle United’s forgotten man Tim Krul is the latest goalkeeper to be linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

While Newcastle United are desperate to get one or two goalkeepers off their books on transfer deadline day, Nottingham Forest remain hopeful that a new shot-stopper will arrive.
Forest have been linked with countless ‘keepers throughout the summer window despite 22-year-old Jordan Smith starting the season in fine style, confirming his status as one of the league’s most promising custodians.
However, the Championship giants may be about to add a bit of experience to their ranks with Sky Sports (live blog, 9.18am) reporting that they have made an enquiry about Newcastle outcast Tim Krul, who surprisingly remains on Tyneside despite being told he could leave the club at the start of the summer.

The long-serving Dutchman was one of the Premier League’s most highly-rated shot-stoppers just a few years ago but a horrific cruciate ligament injury suffered on international duty in October 2015 stopped his career in its tracks.
He lost his place at Newcastle to Karl Darlow but appears back to full fitness after featuring regularly on loan at Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar in the second half of last season.

If Forest manage to get their man, they could pull off one of the most potentially exciting deals in the Championship transfer window. Krul is a ‘keeper of undeniable international class and, at 29, there is hope that his best years may still be ahead of him.
This latest transfer rumour comes just two days after Brondby boss Age Hareide confirmed that the club would not be selling Danish international Frederik Ronnow to Forest despite receiving two bids, the second worth £2.3 million, for the highly-rated 25-year-old, per the Nottingham Post.
