Nottingham Forest are pursuing Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna.

Scott McKenna of Aberdeen walks on the pitch with team mates prior to the Betfred Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on December 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to the Daily Record, Nottingham Forest will launch a new move for Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna, having failed with an initial £3million bid.

Forest are looking for reinforcements under new boss Sabri Lamouchi, having already brought in Aro Muric, Yuri Ribeiro, Albert Adomah, Tiago Silva, Sammy Ameobi and Alfa Semedo.

A centre back now appears to be on the wish list, and a £3million move for McKenna has allegedly fallen short of Aberdeen’s asking price.

However, Forest will now return with a new bid in an attempt to convince Aberdeen into selling, but it may take a considerable increase to force a deal.

McKenna, 22, has come up through the Aberdeen ranks, making more than 80 appearances for the club whilst becoming a Scotland international.

The 6ft 2in defender is strong and offers balance to a defence thanks to his left foot, whilst his potential means he could be worth a huge fee in the future.

Forest do have centre backs though. Tobias Figueiredo, Alexander Milosevic, Michael Dawson, Yohan Benalouane and Joe Worrall are all at the City Ground, so adding another defender would create something of a logjam.

Yet with Ben Gibson wanted if McKenna can’t be signed, it seems that Forest are set on adding a left-footed centre back – and they’ll now hope to tempt Aberdeen into finally selling McKenna having batted off bids in the past.
