Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Sweden international Mattias Johansson from Panathinaikos, according to PageNews.
While Matty Cash might have taken to his new right-back role like the proverbial duck to water, Sabri Lamouchi’s promotion-chasing charges may be forced to look at bringing in some competition for one of their most impressive performers.
Tendayi Darikwa is yet to make a single appearance all season thanks to injury. Carl Jenkinson, meanwhile, has not exactly set the world alight since he finally cut ties with Premier League giants Arsenal last summer.
So you would imagine that Jenkinson will be looking nervously over his shoulder if Johansson arrives at the City Ground in the next few weeks or months.
A 28-year-old who has three caps for the Sweden national team, Johansson joined Panathinaikos from AZ Alkmaar on a free transfer back in 2017. And, with his contract due to expire in July, the diminutive wideman could be set for another bargain switch.

It’s fair to say Johansson is not exactly a household name in the East Midlands. But neither were Brice Samba, Thiago Silva, Samba Sow, Yuri Ribeiro and co – and they have all made a real impact since joining Forest during the Lamouchi era.
For a club who’s recruitment has really let them down in recent years, Forest have done quite well in the transfer market of late.
