Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering letting Joe Worrall leave the City Ground, with Burnley’s Kevin Long on their radar.

Jeff Hendrick of Burnley and Kevin Long of Burnley celebrate during the friendly match between Burnley and OGC Nice at Turf Moor on July 30, 2019 in Burnley, England.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (4/8; page 67), Nottingham Forest are battling Stoke City to sign Burnley defender Kevin Long, and Sabri Lamouchi could consider letting Joe Worrall leave the City Ground.

Worrall returned to Forest this summer after a season-long loan at Rangers. Some Forest fans never accepted that letting the centre-back leave was the right decision, but he did not manage to win over the large majority of the Ibrox faithful during his time in Scotland – only showing occasional glimpses of his potential.

The Sun on Sunday (4/8; page 67) reports that Forest may look to move Worrall out this summer, with Lamouchi interested in signing Long from the Clarets.

It is interesting that it is claimed that Worrall may be available – though it is not mentioned whether that would be another loan or on a permanent basis. He started against West Brom on the opening day of the season, and had a decent afternoon despite Forest losing 2-1 on what was a tough day for goalkeeper Aro Muric.

Worrall does continue to divide supporters. But it would arguably be a gamble to replace the academy graduate with Long, who has made just 25 Premier League appearances across the last three seasons for Sean Dyche’s men.

It would be a surprise if Forest decided to let Worrall move on after he was named in Lamouchi’s first competitive starting lineup. Long may be a shrewd addition to the club’s ranks if they do get him before the deadline, but it would confuse plenty of fans if his arrival led to Worrall moving on in some capacity.
