Frederik Ronnow could be Nottingham Forest’s new number one if they meet Brondby’s asking price.

Despite sealing the signing of former Leeds United skipper Liam Bridcutt for just £1 million, per the Nottingham Post, Forest appear to have more deals in the pipeline.

The Sun (20th August, page 60) reported at the weekend that Danish international goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow was on the club’s radar as Mark Warburton looks to sign a new shot-stopper capable of competing with highly-rated youngster Jordan Smith (below) at the City Ground.

Ronnow, who is putting up a fight with Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel to be his country’s first-choice ‘keeper, is arguably the best shot-stopper currently plying his trade in Scandanavia.

As a result, the report adds that Danish giants Brondby value him at around £2.8 million. Yet, according to the Nottingham Post, Forest’s initial offer has fallen a little short with Brondby rejecting a bid of £1.8 million for the 25-year-old.

However, Ronnow’s superb form for Brondby in the last few months means Forest should surely not think twice about adding another £1 million onto their bid.

After all, the ‘keeper appears perfect for Warburton’s system, combining superb reflexes and one-on-one ability with excellent technique and the ability to build attacks from the back.

Yet, any move would appear harsh on Jordan Smith, the 22-year-old starring in recent weeks and helping Forest into the top six after four Championship games.
