Nottingham Forest have reportedly begun talks with Watford regarding a permanent deal for Costel Pantilimon.

Pantilimon spent the second-half of last season on loan with the Championship club, and enjoyed a very encouraging spell at the City Ground, making 13 appearances in the league as Aitor Karanka’s men registered an underwhelming bottom-half finish.

There were some reasons for optimism heading into Karanka’s first summer with the club however, and Pantilimon’s performances probably left many fans feeling that bringing him back for another spell should be a key goal for the window.
And it appears that those who wish to see the 31-year-old return may get their wish, with the Daily Mail’s live transfer blog (19/06; 11:59) reporting that Forest have now begun talks with the Hornets about a permanent move for the stopper.

The Romania international would arguably be a very shrewd signing for Forest in a window where the club have already made some fantastic statements with the business that they have done.
Karanka’s men have broken the club record to land Joao Carvalho, while Michael Dawson and Tobias Figueiredo have also arrived permanently and Diogo Goncalves has joined on loan. If the club land Pantilimon and perhaps make a few more signings, it would be little surprise if they were many people’s tip to secure promotion next season.
