Nottingham Forest are reportedly moving for Tobias Figueiredo.
According to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest are lining up a late deal for Sporting defender Tobias Figueiredo, firming up their interest when Leeds United wouldn’t.
Forest sacked Mark Warburton the day before the transfer window opened, and having brought in Aitor Karanka as his replacement, Forest have yet to make a January signing.
However, having had some time to assess his squad, Karanka could now delve into the transfer market, with two deals possibly close heading into the final hours of the window.
The Daily Mail report that not only is Karanka looking to reunite with Middlesbrough midfielder and ex-Forest ace Adlene Guedioura, but he is also lining up a deal for Sporting defender Tobias Figueiredo.
It’s claimed that Leeds United have held an interest in signing Figueiredo, but whilst the Whites haven’t firmed up their interest, Forest are set to do just that.
The 23-year-old centre back has come up through the ranks of Sporting’s famed academy having joined the Lisbon giants at the age of just 12, but he has been a bit-part player.
Figueiredo has played just 15 league games for Sporting, and spent last season on loan at Portuguese rivals Nacional, where he featured on a more prominent basis.
With no league appearances this season, Figueiredo looks set to move on before the deadline, and it’s believed that the City Ground could be his destination as Karanka looks to make his first Forest signing.
