Nottingham Forest and Derby County are among the clubs interested in signing Ben Whiteman from Doncaster Rovers in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

Queens Park Rangers, Preston North End and Barnsley are also reported to be interested in securing the services of Whiteman from League One club Doncaster this month.

It has been claimed that Forest have been scouting the 24-year-old, described as ‘an all-round midfielder with box-to-box energy’ in the report.

Derby and Barnsley have ‘strong interest’ in the former Sheffield United man, while Preston and QPR have had bids turned down for him, according to the report.

Ben Whiteman Stats

Whiteman joined Doncaster on a permanent contract in January 2018 after a loan spell from United.

The 24-year-old has established himself as a big player for Rovers over the years and is a key figure in the team now.

According to WhoScored, the midfielder has scored five goals and provided four assists in 18 League One matches for Doncaster so far this season.

Darren Moore’s side are fourth in the League One table at the moment with 33 points from 18 matches, just five points behind second-placed Hull City, who have played 20 games.

With Rovers in the running for automatic promotion to the Championship, they may not be willing to sell Whiteman in the middle of the season.
