Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers are both interested in handing Jason Lowe the chance to remain in the Championship.

According to a report from The Sun, Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers are both interested in former Blackburn Rovers captain Jason Lowe this summer.

Lowe is a free agent after leaving Ewood Park following their relegation to League One at the end of last season, and recently trained with West Bromwich Albion during their pre-season tour of Austria – featuring in a friendly for the Baggies.

The Sun reports that Forest and Bolton are both interested in handing the 25-year-old the chance to remain in the Championship – with the Trotters prepared to offer Lowe a deal worth more than £500,000 a year.

Though the former England under-21 international suffered relegation last season, it is perhaps not difficult to see why Mark Warburton and Phil Parkinson are both keen to bring him to their respective clubs ahead of the new campaign.

Forest only secured Championship survival on the final day of the season – helping relegate Blackburn in the process – while Bolton are preparing for their return to the second tier after one year away.

Lowe can not only be deemed to be a reliable performer at Championship level, but would provide a level of versatility – he can play at full-back or in midfield – that would arguably make him a very smart signing for either club, especially on a free transfer.
