Norwich City are reportedly hoping to bring Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes back on a permanent basis.
According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (19/5; page 63), Norwich are interested in signing Jordan Rhodes on a permanent basis, and are hoping that Sheffield Wednesday would be willing to let him go for a small fee.
Rhodes spent this past season on loan at Carrow Road as the Canaries went on to seal promotion to the Premier League after an outstanding campaign. The striker however, did not capture the imagination during his time away from Hillsborough.
The 29-year-old scored six goals in 36 league appearances for Norwich. In fairness to the Scotland international, he started just nine of those games. But it would surely be fair to say that some would have predicted that he would not have been on Daniel Farke’s shopping list ahead of their return to the top flight.
But The Sun on Sunday (19/5; page 63) reports that the Canaries are keen to bring Rhodes back to the club this summer, and that they are hoping that Wednesday will let him leave on the cheap.
With Rhodes’ move to the Owls not exactly proving to be an overwhelming success, it would not be a huge surprise if they were open to offers for the striker, unless Steve Bruce believes that he can get the best out of him now that he is available to the Wednesday boss.
But given that Rhodes has only made six Premier League appearances during his entire career – having spent just one season at England’s top table – it may be a very tempting opportunity for the forward to return to Norwich to try and help them make an impact at the highest level.
