Leeds United seem to have a battle on their hands to keep hold of their manager should they miss out on promotion out of the Championship.

A report in the Daily Mirror has suggested that Norwich City’s new sporting director plans to make a move for Leeds United boss Garry Monk should the Whites miss out on promotion this season.
The Canaries sporting director Stuart Webber – who recently moved to Carrow Road from Huddersfield Town – has already made a number of changes behind the scenes, and has now earmarked Monk as the man that he wants to permanently succeed Alex Neil.
The Mirror seems to suggest Leeds’ promotion hopes could be crucial to any potential move, and it could well be Norwich who end those hopes at the weekend.
Monk’s men realistically need to pick up four more points than Fulham from the final two games due to the latter’s significantly better goal difference, so anything less than a win against the Canaries could well mean that Leeds will not be extending their season beyond the final weekend against Wigan.

It remains to be seen what Monk would decide to do, but the Daily Mail suggested back in March that Leeds have the option to extend the former Swansea boss’ contract by another 12 months.
And most Leeds fans will argue, given how many managers they have had in recent years who have failed to come close to what Monk has achieved, the club would be foolish not to hand the 38-year-old the kind of deal that tempts him to ignore any interest from Norwich.
