POAK forward Christos Tzolis will travel to England today ahead of a potential £9.5 million move to Premier League newcomers Norwich City, as reported by Greek publication Metro Sport.

If the highly-rated forward can emulate the impact of his compatriot Dimitris Giannoulis at Carrow Road, then he will be worth every single penny of that rather substantial transfer fee.

19-year-old Tzolis is expected to cost just shy of £10 million – a fee that will make the technically-gifted teenager the most expensive signing in Norwich’s history ahead of fellow summer recruit Milot Rashica.

With Tzolis travelling to England today, according to Metro Sport, a deal looks set to be completed before Saturday’s Premier League opener against Liverpool, the youngster reuniting with his former PAOK teammate Giannoulis in East Anglia.

With add-ons and bonuses included, the eight-time Greece international could cost in excess of £11 million.

It is understood he will earn around £16,000-a-week too, having agreed a long-term deal expected to keep him at the club until 2025 or 2026.

Will Christos Tzolis become Norwich’s record signing?

Now, when Norwich finished bottom of the top-flight table in 2019/20, one of the biggest criticisms facing Daniel Farke’s side was that they failed to reinforce their squad adequately after storming to the Championship title.

It is fair to say Norwich appear to have learned from that mistake.

The jet-heeled Rashica, the defence-splitting Pierre Lees-Melou and the hard-working Josh Sargent look like intelligent additions to Farke’s squad while, in Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour, the Canaries have signed one of the most exciting youngsters in the Premier League.

Tzolis, meanwhile, scored 16 goals and provided another 10 assists for PAOK last term – not bad for a man who won’t even turn 20 until January.

A left-winger by trade, Tzolis could form a thrilling partnership with Rashica and the evergreen Teemu Pukki, with Cantwell, Lees-Melou and Gilmour pulling the strings from deep.

Norwich do appear to have missed out on a deal for Adam Armstrong, however, with the Blackburn Rovers striker set to replace Danny Ings at Southampton instead.
