According to The Chronicle, there are now noises from Arsenal suggesting that Joe Willock will be available for transfer this summer.

It’s claimed that Arsenal may be willing to let Willock go because Mikel Arteta wants to spark a ‘radical overhaul’ of his squad.

The Gunners are looking to raise funds this summer, and Willock is seen as a potential source of funds after his spell with Newcastle.

Willock is thought to be open to leaving Arsenal despite them being his boyhood club, as he wants first-team football.

Arteta seemingly won’t give him that, and Newcastle boss Steve Bruce wants to build around him at Newcastle after a strong loan spell since his January move.

Newcastle believe that £20million is enough to land Willock, but whether or not Mike Ashley will release that kind of cash remains to be seen.

Willock, 21, has smashed six goals in just 12 games for Newcastle, and has now scored in five straight outings for the Magpies.

Arsenal need midfield help this summer, and Willock’s goalscoring ability has surely caught the eye of Arteta.

Yet with first-team football hard to come by with Arsenal, Willock may well think it’s time to go – and Newcastle must be favourites to sign him if that’s the case.
