Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay Newcastle United the full price even if the French international leaves this summer.

According to a report from the Chronicle, Tottenham Hotspur will ultimately have to pay £30million for Moussa Sissoko despite a contractual agreement allowing Spurs to pay in £6million installments.

That news will come as a hammer blow to those Tottenham fans who thought they could get away with paying just £6million for the Frenchman before cashing in on the flop this summer.

After arriving on transfer deadline day in a deal that bemused Tottenham fans and delighted Newcastle supporters in equal measure, Sissoko has flattered to deceive and fell out of favour in the second half of the campaign.

To date the Frenchman has featured 34 times, failing to score and providing only four assists in the process.

It would be no surprise if he moved on this summer, with the Chronicle suggesting Tottenham will look to cash in this summer, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be desperate to recoup the £30million he is tasked with paying the Magpies over the next few seasons.

The problem is, with the 27-year-old playing poorly for some time now – Euro 2016 aside – will anyone be willing to fork out such a substantial fee for an ineffective player?

Only time will tell, but this summer Tottenham will reportedly make it £12million and counting for a player they never really needed in the first place.
